Beth is a Certified Professional Midwife, and New Hampshire Certified Midwife attending home and birth center births as a provider at The Birthwise Community Clinic at The Birth House, in Bridgton, Maine.

After completing an undergraduate degree at the University of New England, Beth began exploring pathways to becoming a midwife. She began her study of midwifery during graduate school at the SIT Graduate Institute (formerly the School for International Training/SIT) while completing her Master’s degree in Sustainable International Development. She completed her dissertation on a working theory of “developmental midwifery”, examining the role of birth in communities experiencing civil war and conflict. She began her clinical training as a student midwife during her practicum, working with the Yayasan Bumi Sehat midwifery clinic in Bali, Indonesia. Upon returning to the US and defending her thesis, Beth moved to Bridgton, Maine where she began formal study of professional midwifery at Birthwise Midwifery School. After completing the didactic portion of the program at Birthwse, including clinical placements with a small homebirth practice in Meredith, NH, and a second in Littleton, NH, and a year-long residency at the Birth Cottage of Milford to complete her training, Beth became certified as a CPM in early 2013.

Currently, Beth serves as the Academic Director of Birthwise Midwifery School, rounding out her role as a midwife, faculty member and clinical preceptor.
